Meet Kyle Cheek

Founder of Cheek Construction

Kyle Cheek started Cheek Construction in January 2014 with a clear idea of the kind of company he wanted to build. At the time, the team consisted of Kyle and one other employee. He spent his days doing field work, then went home at night to handle payroll and the office side of the business.

There was no large team behind him and no shortcut around the work. What Kyle did have was years of concrete experience and a vision centered on fairness, honesty, quality work, and creating something that could provide opportunities for other people.

24 Years in Concrete Shaped the Way He Works

Kyle brings 24 years of concrete experience to the work. That time in the industry has given him a practical understanding of what concrete projects demand, especially when schedules are tight, scopes change, and several parts of a job need to stay coordinated.

Concrete work is rarely just about getting material on the ground. Project teams have to think about plans, specifications, mix requirements, reinforcement, site access, equipment, labor, phasing, and timing. Conditions can change quickly, and decisions made early can affect everything that follows.

Kyle’s background in the field has helped shape a straightforward approach: understand the scope, communicate clearly, plan around the real conditions of the job, and take responsibility for the work delivered.

From Two People to Three Locations

What started with two people has grown into a company with three locations and more than 100 employees. That growth did not happen overnight.

Each stage brought new responsibilities, from adding crews and equipment to developing the systems needed to handle larger commercial and industrial concrete scopes. As the company expanded, Kyle’s role changed too. The work became less about doing everything himself and more about building teams that could carry the same standards forward.

Growth has never been the only goal. One of the main reasons Kyle continues doing this work is to provide a good place to work and help others. Creating opportunities for team members remains a major part of what the company is building.

Leadership Built Around People

Kyle wants to be the kind of leader who gives people room to grow while still holding a high standard for the work.

That means treating people fairly, communicating directly, and giving team members the support they need to take ownership of their responsibilities. It also means expecting accountability. Construction projects change, mistakes can happen, and difficult situations come up. The expectation is to address problems, communicate about them, and keep working toward a solution.

His leadership is grounded in the same values that shaped the business at the beginning: honesty, safety, accountability, and respect for the people doing the work.

How Kyle Approaches the Work Today

Cheek Construction is much larger than it was in 2014, but the expectations around the work are still practical.

We plan, pay attention to the schedule, and communicate early when conditions change. We focus on workmanship that reduces the risk of rework and on giving project teams a clear understanding of scope, timing, and potential impacts.

Kyle also expects the team to stand behind the finished work. That includes owning mistakes and fixing problems rather than passing responsibility somewhere else. On active job sites, that same mindset carries into safety, coordination, and respect for the other crews working around us.
